Perfect Nonsense is the first US museum survey of Harmony Korine's multifaceted career, bringing together over 50 works that trace his artistic evolution from his seminal 1995 screenplay for Kids through his recent explorations of technology and image-making. The exhibition situates Korine's practice across cinema, contemporary art, and popular culture, encompassing painting, photography, collage, zines, and drawing created since his adolescence. His work explores themes of the individual and outsider, class and poverty, celebrity and authenticity, and the gothic dimensions of the American South, with recurring fascination for the American teenager and coming-of-age narratives. Recent works demonstrate his pioneering inquiry into technology, including films like Baby Invasion (2024) and Aggro Dr1ft (2023), while his paintings, such as the "Twitchy" series, combine iPhone imagery with painterly techniques. Since moving to Miami in 2015, where he founded experimental media company EDGLRD, Korine has reframed the American landscape as a delirious and unstable field of images.
