334 Broome presents ‘Homebodies,’ an exhibition of functional art objects—artist made furniture, lamps, tchotchkes, ceramics, wares, wearable art, and zines.
Homebodies is an installation based on the artist’s living room. The show takes inspiration from the homes of the artists we love and transforms the gallery into a decorated living room. We chose handmade and heartfelt ideas that energize our creative practice: paintings, expressive furniture, tiny sculptures, tchotchke collections, records/tapes, art books, funky tables, weird shelving—various things we would love to live around.
Watercolour Society posits that ‘group show’ can be a form or genre mirroring our world—one inundated with artists and makers. This form goes beyond being a mechanism of hype, it rather reflects the way we decorate our tiny apartments—encouraging peer to peer support structures and a culture of exchange.
