House Guest is an exhibition of nearly twenty intimately scaled paintings by Gabe Cortese, featuring a narrative that unfolds across the exhibition as a whole. Five recurring archetypes—candle, man, wilted flower, knife, shadow—structure a home made strange by prior presence. Desire and danger intersect in small, charged moments. Meaning accumulates through absence rather than event, held in suspension rather than resolved.
