James White: House Plant Paintings marks his New York return with eleven black-and-white works centered on the domestic plant as silent witness. Rendered on aluminum and encased in reflective Perspex, the images heighten tone, shadow, and surface while implicating viewers in the act of looking. Ordinary interiors take on cinematic and psychological tension, inviting slow attention in contrast to today’s rapid image culture.
