LAUNCH Gallery presents, Iconic Now, in collaboration with DCDG&Co and curated by David Colbert. This exhibition speaks to the urgency of honoring creatives in their prime—not waiting for institutional validation, market trends, or time to define their worth. Too often, artists—especially Black artists—are celebrated only after they are no longer here to receive their flowers. This exhibition resists that tradition of posthumous recognition and instead champions the brilliance, discipline, and cultural power of artists who are impacting industries, shifting conversations, and shaping community right now.
This is more than a moment—it’s a statement. By showcasing artists who are creating iconic work today, Iconic Now pushes back against the idea that legacy must be defined retrospectively. It asks: Why wait to call it iconic? In doing so, it affirms that legacy is not something we look back on—it’s something we build in real time. Through the work of Grace Bukunmi, Tony Concep, Cheryl Fox and Devin Wesley, the exhibition becomes both a platform and a call to action—reminding us that cultural greatness is not coming, it’s already here.
