Igshaan Adams: Lulu, Zanele, Zandile, Savannah

Institute of Contemporary Art Miami · Design District
Exhibition on view: Dec 2, 2025 - Nov 1, 2026

A monumental commission for ICA Miami's stairwell comprising four tapestries and suspended 'dust clouds' made from twisted wires and repurposed everyday materials. The tapestries, hung vertically down the three-story stairwell, feature chromatically intense woven threads, ornamental chains, lace, fringe, and beads that create shimmering surfaces. The 'dust clouds' add sculptural dimension while alluding to meteorological phenomena, cosmic space, and joyful human movement, drawing inspiration from Sufi mysticism and the artist's interest in how the body conducts divine forces and imagination shapes reality.
