de boer (Los Angeles) presents In a Time of Darkness, This Is Wonderful News, the first Los Angeles solo exhibition of Matthew Kirk. The New York-based artist combines mixed-media wall works and sculpture that draw from Matisse, Wool, and Fedderson alongside traditional pictography and personal memory. Vivid colors, recurring motifs of feathers, trees, moons, and limbs, and layered surfaces evoke graffiti, craft, and abstraction, creating compositions that radiate rhythm, optimism, and spiritual connection.
