Installation view, Alfonso Gonzalez Jr.: In Between Stops, Los Angeles County Museum of Art
Alfonso Gonzalez Jr.’s In Between Stops installs 12 benches along LACMA’s Kendall Concourse. Drawing on rotulismo mexicano and his background as a second-generation sign painter, Gonzalez replaces bus-stop ads with personal and socially conscious messages, some referencing LACMA’s own history, linking the museum to the city’s public-art traditions.
