In the Guts of the Living is a solo exhibition of new paintings and works on paper by Elizabeth Neel. The works explore abstraction as a site where perception, knowledge, and historical reference intersect, drawing from sources such as scientific imagery, architecture, and visual systems of the past. Through gesture, symmetry, and negative space, Neel stages a tension between order and contingency, structure and spontaneity. The exhibition also introduces a group of monochromatic works that examine how cultural conventions shape interpretation and emotional register.
