Miguel Abreu Gallery is pleased to announce the opening, on Wednesday, September 10th, of Jean-Luc Moulène’s fifth one-person exhibition at the gallery.
Comprised of 19 new works fabricated in various materials – ranging from a large scale painted cardboard sculpture to more modestly sized cement, bone glue, glass, or bronze objects – each singular proposition constitutes an imaginative and rigorous plastic solution to a question, a riddle, or, shall we say, a problem. At times abstract, at others attempts at decisive figuration, the objects oscillate with assertive brilliance and a seemingly effortless dose of humor between these two regimes of art, as the exhibition generally progress from abstraction to enigmatic figuration
