Installation view, John Edmonds: The Space Between, Company Gallery, New York, 2026
John Edmonds’s *The Space Between* pairs fourteen photographs made inside George Nelson Preston’s Museum of Art and Origins in Washington Heights with sculptures, books, and archival photographs Edmonds selected from Preston’s collection. In the pictures, live sitters echo the gestures of Classical African sculptures through a tilted head or a resting hand. The show explores mentorship, lineage, the line between person and object, and Black life’s connections to Africa.
