Rise above it is John Rivas’s second solo exhibition with François Ghebaly New York and his first at the Lower East Side location. The exhibition presents carved and painted wooden sculptures alongside mixed-media works that depict family, labor, and everyday life. Drawing from personal history and collaboration with his father, Rivas uses resourceful materials and figuration to reflect on ancestry, memory, and cultural continuity across the United States and El Salvador.
