Journey to the West marks Michele Cesaratto's first North American solo exhibition, presenting ten painted poplar panels and a handmade rice paper scroll. Working in egg tempera on wood sourced from his hometown in Friuli, Cesaratto merges Early Renaissance technique with the calligraphic sensibilities of Song and Yuan Dynasty landscape painting. Friends, folklore, and the untamed Tagliamento river populate a world where nature, memory, and mythmaking converge.
