This exhibition brings together two related bodies of painting: fighting cats and sobbing angels. Rendered on large white canvases, the cats appear amid dense, aggressive marks, shown clashing in pairs or groups. The angels, inspired by Giotto’s Lamentation in the Scrovegni Chapel, appear on smaller canvases and are painted with similar force. The works reference art historical sources and gesture toward questions of taste, the Western canon, and expressive painting.
