Frank Diaz Escalet: Leather “Paintings” presents ten signature leather inlay works and several paintings from the late 1970s and early 1980s. The self taught Puerto Rican artist depicted mid twentieth century New York through cut and stained leather, portraying scenes of immigrant life, jazz clubs, subways, and neighborhood bars with stylized space and textured surfaces.
