Leyla Faye: Theft of Fire

Leyla Faye’s *Theft of Fire* presents six mixed-media paintings and works on paper built around the trickster, a wandering, shape-shifting outsider found across world myths. Animals and figures appear amid traces of earlier marks, with added materials such as poly-fil, painted fabric, and discarded matter giving the surfaces a tactile plushness. The works explore solitude, childhood invention, and Blackness, femininity, and animality as open, unstable conditions.
