Love Letter presents new work by Marc Dennis, organized around Vermeer's Love Letter paintings and the nearly-disappeared form of intimate correspondence they depict. Dennis continues his reinterpretations of Neoclassical, Baroque, and Dutch Golden Age painting, combining hyperrealistic still lifes and portraits with unexpected intrusions—iridescent bubbles, cartoon animals, ice cream sundaes. The result is a love letter to the enduring traditions of painting, opened from the vantage point of contemporary life.
