Material Matters: How Synthetics Shaped a New Era is an installation in The Wolfsonian–FIU's Knight Lab 3 drawn from the museum's collection. It traces how manmade plastics, rubbers and textiles, developed over the last century to improve upon or replace natural resources, sparked rapid change across industries and reshaped design, manufacturing and everyday modern living.
