Market Gallery presents Messenger, a new body of drawings and paintings by Atticus Wakefield that centers on angels and their Hellenistic counterparts, the Gods of the Wind. Continuing the artist’s exploration of painting as a site where myth, technology, and sensation collide, the exhibition reconsiders the angel not as a benign guardian but as a messenger of transformation. Drawing from sculptural depictions of the Wind Gods, and Baroque paintings Wakefield positions these figures as conduits of otherworldly communication—agents whose arrival signals upheaval, revelation, and the reshaping of earthly experience.
