Chicago-based artist Mike Cloud uses the language of abstraction to address social and political issues, often in shaped assemblages of stretcher bars and thick oil paint. For his Hammer Project he scales the lobby wall with three large, loosely abstracted portraits collaged from grocery bags, ads and cash, shown with his Painted Clothing collages made from children’s clothes.
