Funny Weather brings together Jo Cosme, Mimi O Chun, Kara Beth Rasure, and Yixuan Wu around art-making under conditions of political, ecological, and media instability. Titled after critic Olivia Laing's writing on art in an emergency, the exhibition treats distortion and reconstruction as methods for tracing how mediums and systems behave when pushed beyond equilibrium. Cosme uses lenticular printing to expose contradictory depictions of Puerto Rican landscape; Chun subverts symbols of surveillance and resistance through soft sculpture; Rasure molds faces from Amazon boxes and bioplastic; Wu places familiar structures under pressure until function dissolves. Together the works propose new modes of inhabiting the unsettled.
