Mineo Mizuno’s *Homage to Nature* is a site-specific outdoor sculpture made from fallen timber gathered in the Sierra Nevada, framed by views of the San Gabriel Mountains. Charred using the Japanese yakisugi technique and paired with glazed ceramic teardrops, the work balances fire’s destruction with its power to transform. A planted “fire landscape” nearby reflects regrowth, exploring fragile ecosystems, renewal, and reuse.
