Château Shatto presents early 2000s works by sisters Minnie, Emily, Molly, and Galya Pwerle, prominent Alyawarre and Anmatyerre artists from Australia’s Northern Territory. Beginning painting late in life, they created both solo and collaborative works rooted in awelye ceremonial traditions and depictions of bush melons. Their gestural styles reflect ancestral knowledge while engaging with the cultural ruptures and global circulation shaping Western Desert painting.
