Elise Ferguson's exhibition Mod One is inspired by modernist ideas of functionality, clean lines, bold geometric patterns, and playful energy. The hand-printed linen works explore hybrid painting/sculptures that transform the gallery space into a vibrant, dynamic field through geometric forms, imperfections, and a thoughtful color palette. Ferguson creates a phenomenological experience by inserting simple linen constructions that reframe the architectural environment, inviting viewers to share space with the work rather than simply observe it. The pieces blur the boundaries between painting, sculpture, and the built environment, presenting both dematerialized and concrete experiences of space and volume.
