The Hole presents Mutant Lab, Younguk Yi’s first New York solo exhibition. His paintings depict humans and animals mid-mutation, limbs and faces recombining into surreal anatomies. Airbrushed and hand-edged, the works hover between solidity and vapor, evoking both scientific inspection and psychological complexity. Across thirty paintings, Yi explores repetition, control, and hidden emotion, turning bodies into architectural metaphors that reflect human nature, modernity, and the unknowable self.
