Nanci Amaka’s Cleanse series is a ritual act of care, grief, and healing performed on the verge of demolition, birth, and memory. Rooted in her Igbo heritage, the work revisits personal loss and ancestral silence through physical acts of washing and anointing. Using video to record these gestures, Amaka navigates past trauma and future hope while grounded in the present. Her body becomes a conduit for remembrance, protection, and transformation across time and space.
