Black point reinterpretive site is an immersive, site-responsive installation by Torreya Cummings and Sarah Lowe, constructed as a replica of a 19th-century Victorian period room. Using theatrical sets, handcrafted objects, and staged environments, the work examines natural history, colonialism, and industrial intervention in Northern California from Western expansion to the present. By foregrounding artifice and fabrication, the installation questions how history is constructed, represented, and erased, and considers shifts in landscape, ecology, and development over time.
