One Blue Bead is a site specific installation of new works by Wendy Red Star. Through watercolor paintings and hand blown glass sculptures, the artist examines the history of trade beads as instruments of exchange between Indigenous communities and colonizers. Presenting a taxonomy of bead types and values, the installation considers systems of commerce, circulation, and material memory.
