Yancey Richardson New York · Chelsea
Exhibition on view: Feb 27, 2025 - Apr 12, 2025

Yancey Richardson presents orchidsgladiolascowsdaffodilscandywrappersyelloworange-bloodredroses&shit, an exhibition of woven tapestries by Laura Letinsky and John Paul Morabito. The duo explores photography and weaving, translating Letinsky’s still-life abstractions of flower remnants into Morabito’s richly hued textiles. The works bridge digital and tactile processes, capturing fleeting beauty through vibrant cotton and wool threads, evoking a sensory connection to time, memory, and transformation.

John Paul Morabito

John Paul Morabito is a leading scholar-artist bridging performance, queer theory, and rhetoric. A Northwestern University professor, his work explores the rhetoricity of the body, queer archives, and the politics of aesthetics. He creates powerful performances that transform fragments of queer history, particularly the legacies of HIV/AIDS, into live, critical encounters. Morabito’s practice erases the line between theory and art, championing embodied knowledge as a vital form of cultural critique and historical transmission.
