over, under, sideways, down features a new body of work from Dennis Dawson, shaped by an extended process of experimentation, accumulation, and revision. Dawson's practice is exploratory and physical—cutting, layering, sanding, and reassembling surfaces until something sticks. Several works in this exhibition began 15–20 years ago, kept as failures and working surfaces before accumulating enough density and patina to demand attention. Dawson’s exploratory surgery results in extreme collage, pushed to its limits.
