Opening at P·P·O·W, Own Alone marks Owen Fu’s first solo exhibition with the gallery, presenting dreamlike domestic scenes where reality and fantasy blur. His ghostly figures, painted in muted tones, evoke humor, loneliness, and hope. Inspired by Crystal Boys, the first Chinese novel centered on homosexuality, Fu intertwines personal experiences of alienation and immigration, blending Eastern and Western art influences to depict drifting figures seeking connection and belonging in nocturnal urban spaces.
