Bienvenu Steinberg & C presents the first New York exhibition of French artist Jean Degottex (1918–1988), a key figure in postwar abstraction. Endorsed early by André Breton, Degottex developed a practice rooted in sensitivity and material engagement. Featuring nine paintings and unstretched canvases from 1979–80, the show highlights his use of pliage and collage, with mostly monochromatic works accented by vivid blue recalling Matisse.
