Demian DinéYazhi’s POZ Since 1492 (2016/2024) reframes the AIDS crisis within the longer history of settler colonialism and systemic violence. Using institutional critique and imagery from The First Thanksgiving, the artist draws links between germ warfare, government neglect, and Indigenous health. The work turns the museum façade into a call for awareness, asserting that we live on stolen land and urging action on HIV and Indigenous sovereignty.
