Psychiatry is what Psychiatrists do marks François Pain’s first U.S. institutional solo exhibition, presenting new and archival works exploring Institutional Psychotherapy. A nine-screen installation weaves together footage from La Borde clinic, wartime archives, and conversations with key figures like Guattari and Tosquelles. Pain’s work interrogates psychiatry, resistance, and collective care, constructing a poetic, political cinema that questions structure, identity, and the role of image.
