Reconstruction in Relief brings together works by Nicole Awai and Teri Gandy Richardson, each using reconstruction to examine material, history, and narrative. Awai creates allegorical forms informed by Caribbean ancestry and the interplay of matter and story. Richardson builds denim based constructions that reflect on breath and the material’s ties to U.S. racial history.
