Roberto Burle Marx

Andrew Kreps Gallery, 22 Cortlandt Alley New York · Tribeca / SoHo
Exhibition on view: Jan 9, 2026 - Feb 28, 2026

Andrew Kreps Gallery presents the first New York exhibition devoted to Roberto Burle Marx’s paintings, spanning five decades. Influenced by European modernism and Brazil’s native flora, his work shifted from representation to abstraction, using sinuous forms and vibrant color. Painting and landscape design informed one another, yet remained distinct practices. Across canvas and garden, Burle Marx pursued modern Brazilian identity, artistic invention, and environmental stewardship.
