This exhibition presents a new body of work by Mike Shultis that uses historical compositions as a framework for social critique. Drawing from classical mosaics and Baroque painting, Shultis parallels the excess and collapse of ancient Rome with contemporary culture. Combining scavenged objects with painterly gestures, the works merge references to art history, everyday materials, and digital culture to examine power, consumption, and political ambition through humor and contradiction.
