15 Orient presents HUDINILSON JR.: Selected Works 1978 - 2000. This show marks the first New York solo-exhibition of the pioneering Brazilian artist whose practice spanned performance, activism, public actions, interventions as well as a myriad of discrete objects.
Coming of age during the country’s repressive military dictatorship, Hudinilson Jr. (1957 – 2013, São Paulo) nevertheless cultivated a sense of boundless formal experimentation, drawing from the city’s underground scene, queer nightlife as well as pockets of freedom afforded by art schools and museums. His xerographic works (begun in 1977- 1978) are particularly groundbreaking, mapping the expressive possibilities of the interface between body and technology.
