Set of Seven Cylinders brings together a group of new and old works by Lincoln Tobier—ceramic sculptures made between 2022 and 2025, and a large flat enamel-on-steel painting from 2002. The sculptures feature cylinders bundled into compact nuclei referencing the Fasces, dynamite, and serial art practices. Each is unique, made by hand through a process of pressing, folding, and firing. The painting reproduces a 2001 newspaper image of mass protests by the Kabyle people of Algeria, known as the Black Spring. Tobier's work engages critically with the public sphere, democratic institutions, and the relationship between aesthetics, ideology, and mass media communication.
