Matthew Marks presents Xinyi Cheng: Sing to It, featuring twelve new paintings by the artist in her first solo show in Los Angeles. Cheng's work, inspired by personal experiences and memories, captures intimate, sometimes surreal moments involving people, animals, and objects. The paintings explore emotions like curiosity, alienation, and peace, with subjects often portrayed in states of estrangement. Notable works include Lily’s Mobile, Oneself, and two reinterpretations of Otto Dix’s Nude Girl with Gloves.
