Slab Citizen is an exhibition of new oil on canvas paintings by Los Angeles–based artist Daniel Dove. Working from digital and physical models, Dove constructs detailed landscapes populated by improvised structures inspired by desert assemblages in Southern California. Drawing on traditions of Realism and Surrealism, the paintings reflect on image culture, materiality, and contemporary American life.
