Tatyana Fazlalizadeh presents portraits of Black Angelenos wheat-pasted on CAAM’s atrium walls, drawn from photos and conversations during her time in Los Angeles. Her work explores how safety is perceived and created for Black residents. Known for her 2012 series Stop Telling Women to Smile, Fazlalizadeh uses portraiture to center personal voices. This project continues with a solo exhibition at Art + Practice, where both venues will display her work concurrently.
