Stitched and Stained is a collaborative series by Alexandra Carter and Heather Beardsley exploring the mythology of the monstrous feminine and control over women’s bodies. Carter draws with cranberry juice on antique embroidered linens, then Beardsley responds with embroidery, adding texture and concealment. Depicting female monsters in transformation, the work connects marginalized textile traditions with contemporary discourse on female bodies and agency.
