Strange Tales presents drawings and paintings by Yongqi Tang that draw from Chinese folklore and myth alongside Western allegorical narratives. Referencing stories from Strange Tales from a Chinese Studio and classical accounts of image making, the works examine illusion, desire, fear, and creation. Figures, symbolic scenes, and a multi-panel screen construct a personal mythos shaped by displacement, cultural memory, and contemporary life.
