Survived by Sights considers how painting can convey the liveliness of perception within a still image. Gaucher works through sustained looking, bodily movement, and shifting attention, allowing time, inconsistency, and contradiction to shape his forms. Rather than fixed representation or spectacle, the paintings follow what leaves an impression, zooming in and out of focus. The resulting works trade motion for volatility, preserving the pulse of seeing itself.
