Tape Drifts and Figures Reach is an exhibition of cast, wall-mounted, hand-painted sculptures by Berlin-based artist Katy Cowan. Cowan transforms everyday studio objects, such as masking tape, cardboard, and paint palettes, into bronze at the renowned German foundry Skulpturengießerei Knaak. Cast via the lost wax technique, a range of information—from the grain of cardboard to the lines of tape—are made permanent. Hand-painted in oil and enamel, the bronzes turn the residue of studio life into a record of time made visible and tangible.
