Akwasi Brenya-Mensa: Tatale Provisions reimagines the West African provision store as a space for cultural exchange, rooted in the legacy of neighborhood hubs where commerce and community intertwine. Part retail experience, part living archive, the installation is curated with produce and products by Black artisans, encouraging intentional consumption and reflection on how culture is commodified. Inspired by a 1995 photograph of the artist and his mother at a Kumasi provisions store, the work centers diasporic identity and communal gathering — sitting naturally among the bodegas of New York's Lower East Side.
