Reiko Sudō: Textile Alchemy

Textile Alchemy surveys more than four decades of work by Japanese designer Reiko Sudō and her textile studio NUNO. Over 100 limited-edition textiles appear with drawings, tools and prototypes, tracing Sudō’s experimental approach to materials, her collaborations with regional artisans and her engagement with sustainability and craft.

Reiko Sudō

Reiko Sudō is a Japanese textile designer whose work with her textile collective NUNO merges tradition with experimentation and technology. For LACMA's David Geffen Galleries she created bespoke metallic curtains, developing a sputter-plated chrome textile, "LACMA × NUNO Sputtered Chrome" (2025), that shields delicate objects from light while remaining transparent enough to allow views of Wilshire Boulevard. Her practice is the subject of the in-depth survey "Textile Alchemy: The Art of Reiko Sudō and NUNO" at LACMA.
