Charles Avery's exhibition, The Eidola, Pigs and Blades of the Inner Vast, continues his exploration of his fictional island project, The Islanders. Central to the show is the horizon line, representing a divide between tangible and intangible realms. The works explore the paradox of the horizon, with figures and landscapes beneath it and spirits and clouds above. Contrasting moods, playful yet melancholic, depict a world of fleeting beauty, with large-scale paintings and smaller oil works of shifting clouds and figures.
