This presentation gathers around forty ukiyo-e, or pictures of the floating world, woodblock prints from the museum's collection, many given by Clarence Buckingham, an early and major supporter of the Art Institute. The prints depict the pleasures, theater, and daily life central to this influential genre of Japanese art.
